Throwback Thursdays!

Welcome to Throwback Thursdays!  In my attempts to make the new blog more fun and exciting we are adding a few new features.  To start with we will be having Throwback Thursdays to celebrate images from the past!

This image was taken during our Honeymoon in 2008 to Asia.  During this last leg of our Honeymoon we spent a week in Kyoto.  Kyoto is a quaint little city in Japan famous for its Japanese gardens.  My husband, a Landscape Architect, had a day lined up to see a TON of gardens!  At this point in the trip I was pretty sick with what I was soon to find out was the beginning of Mono.  How ironic to come down with the teenage kissing sickness during our honeymoon!  Very romantic indeed!  I guess it was to balance out the stomach bug Greg had in Bali for the first leg of the trip!  Anyway, when I saw his itinerary and the excitement in his eyes I knew I would be slowing him down and sent him on his way for a few hours.

Instead I grabbed my camera and went for an aimless stroll.  I arrived at the Kamo River. I stood on the bridge and watched people go about their daily lives. I was particularly interested in a Grandfather with what seemed to be his two grandchildren feeding the birds.  The little girl and her big brother were squealing with delight as the birds were swooping all around them to catch the bread crumbs they were tossing. The Grandfather seemed a bit nervous that they were getting too close to the water and was unsuccessfully trying to get them further up on the river bank.  I took a few shots with them all in the frame but it wasn’t until big brother ran off, forcing the Grandfather to follow, that I got my shot. The moment did not last long, Grandfather was back in a flash, but in that beautiful moment the little girl threw up a big handful of bread crumbs and the birds were delighted! So was I.  Thank you big brother- you can always count on those boys running off!
