The importance of getting in the photographs with our children!

A few questions for you! Please tell me your answers/thoughts in the comment section! 1) How many of you have a picture of yourself as a newborn/baby with your Mom?
If you answered YES, the next question is: how many of you care what she looked like?
If you answered NO, my last question is how many of you wish YES was your answer?
When I ask the parents of the newborns I photograph if they want to be in the picture it’s about 50/50 if they say yes or no. I totally get it, giving birth and then keeping your new baby healthy and happy those first few weeks is EXHAUSTING! Our clothes don’t fit, our hair might not even be washed and time to get ready? Let’s not forget the rollercoaster our hormones are on!
The truth is everyone I have asked who has a picture of themselves and their Mom when they were a baby doesn’t even notice how their Mom looks, or her hair, outfit, and fatigue. They just see their Mom with loving eyes.
Woman are so hard on themselves and the power of PhotoShop and how our magazines and news media is using it are only making woman feel worse. Those models in the magazines and how they look- guess what? FAKE NEWS! 🙂 Let’s not forget the insanity of social media making everyone feel in competition with each other.
All that being said, I hope this post encourages all of us Moms to get in pictures more with our children when they are new to this world.
