Newborn Baby Photography in Folsom California

Recently I had the pleasure of having Sweet Abby in my photography studio in Folsom, CA. She came in with her parents who were so much fun to chat with. They shared with me the story of Abby and it made me appreciate even more the job I get to do. These little babies are truly miracles and it’s an honor to document their first days. Abby, you are so loved and you will forever be adored I just know it!

Abby was the perfect age for newborn photography, she was all of 11 days! The reason why this is a perfect age is that the babies are still sleepy, still tiny and for the most part, have not developed baby acne yet! Yes, that is a thing! The difference between a baby under 2 weeks and a baby under 4 weeks can be huge! Not only in their size but also in their ability to fall asleep easily and also for having that beautiful skin quality.

I remember when I took my son in for his 2-week appointment, the doctor told me that he would “wake up” at 21 days. We laughed about it the whole way home. Our little Jax has been so easy since he was born, he was never going to be challenging. (Yes Jax was our first baby) I kid you not, day 21 came and whoah- let’s just say Jax WOKE UP! Now that’s not saying all older babies are hard to pose but if you are hoping for some newborn photography that showcases a sleeping little baby, between 5-14 days is best!
