Obama’s Inauguration in Harlem New York City

ObamaHarlem

8 years ago Greg and I headed out to watch Obama’s inauguration being broadcasted outside in Harlem. The people were chanting “ONE NATION UNDER A GROOVE! OBAMA! OBAMA!” This is some of what I wrote about the experience.

“Those were some of the chants we heard today as we watched Mr. Obama be sworn in as the president on 125th Street in the heart of Harlem USA! It was a warm day in Harlem even though the mercury only rose to be in the 20’s. The human spirit that showed up to witness this historical event was represented by all the colors our flesh tones are able to create! Together we cheered and cried and celebrated a new way of thinking.”

Tomorrow I will be amongst the people again as I participate in the Santa Cruz Woman’s’ March. What we will be marching for tomorrow feels like a step back in history. I honestly can say that I do hope Trump proves me wrong and leads this country in a way that we can all be proud of.
